ENGLISH PREPARATORY PROGRAM EXEMPTION EXAM
* The exam does not cover the students who will start education in Turkish departments.
*The exam schedule has changed. Please take the updated time into consideration.
Students who will study in departments providing education in English are required to study at English Preparatory School. Students who want to skip the preparatory school and start the department directly must pass this exam successfully. The exam will be face-to-face at Main Campus, Block B on 28 and 29 September. Exam hours for Stage 1 and Stage 2 are divided into sections.

Stage 3: (For All Departments) 29.09.2021, Wednesday / 08:00-18:00
Exam Content
It is a three-stage exam that measures Test, Writing and Speaking Skills, and the exam duration is 2 days.
Stage 1: Test 28.09.2021, Tuesday
– This stage consists of 80 questions prepared in 4 (four) different sections and foreign language skills will be measured based on questions prepared at the proficiency level.
– This stage is 40 points.
– Below is a brief description of the exam format:
1) Listening: 16 questions (While listening & Note taking skills),
2) Reading: 22 questions (Reading and understanding 2/3 articles),
3) Grammar: 24 questions (Mechanical and Contextual/Meaningful question types),
4) Vocabulary: 18 questions (Mechanical and Contextual/Meaningful question types).
– The classes in which the students will take the exam will be announced on the School of Foreign Languages website (https://ydyo.ankaramedipol.edu.tr/).
– Students are kindly requested to arrive 30 minutes before the exam.
Stage 2: Writing 28.09.2021, Tuesday
At this stage, the students are expected to write an English essay on the given topic. This stage is 20 points.
Stage 3: Speaking 29.09.2021, Wednesday
At this stage, speaking skills, which is one of the productive skills in foreign language education, will be measured at the proficiency level in accordance with the preparatory class exemption criteria. Students will take the exam one by one and the exam duration is 10 minutes. Students who get less than 15 points from Stage 1, will not be able to enter Stage 3. The exam time and place of the 3rd stage will be announced on the website of the School of Foreign Languages (https://ydyo.ankaramedipol.edu.tr/) on Tuesday evening, 28.09.2021. This stage is 40 points.
Preparatory School Exemption Criteria
– In order for students to be exempted from the Preparatory School, they must get 75 points out of 100 as a result of the total points of all stages.
– Students who score below 75 points in the exemption exam will be placed in the Preparatory Classes based on their exam success scores. Another placement test will not be administered.
Turkish Department Students Exemption Criteria
– Exemption exams for English 1-2-3-4 (5i courses) applied in Turkish programs will be administered on a separate date.
– Detailed information will be published on our university website.
Exam Rules and Procedure
On the occasion that cheating, deceptive or misleading are detected during the exam, the exams of the students who take any of those actions will be deemed and action will be taken against them in accordance with the Higher Education Institutions Student Disciplinary Regulation. Some of the actions that may result in the cancellation of the exam are listed below:
– Receiving help from external sources (another person, mobile phone, electronic device, book, etc.),
– Sharing questions or answers,
Students who take the exam are obliged to comply with the exam rules and are deemed to have accepted the rules.
